What is one thing that most people would be surprised to learn about you?
That I am reasonably accomplished at making meals for my family using a slow cooker/crock pot. Whether it be a basic skirt steak in au jus with vegetables, two of my newer recipes like a tangy beef goulash or spicy Thai chicken, or my traditional Johnsonville brats in beer and onions…it’s all good!
When did you first become interested in working in finance?
When I took a Money & Banking course my sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin. Part of the coursework and final grade was an investment competition across multiple asset classes. I did not place nearly as high as I expected…and it left me wanting more and more opportunities to prove myself in finance.
In 3 sentences, tell me about your role at the firm.
I am the President and Chief Operating Officer of Lime Brokerage LLC, a Wedbush Company. I head and oversee all business operations, including engineering, legal & compliance, finance, client service and marketing. I am also a member of Lime Brokerage’s Board of Directors.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Well, what little spare time there is from participating in the sports and activities of my three younger children or calling and visiting with my four adult children who live away, I am an avid reader. I enjoy both fiction to be entertained, and non-fiction as one is never too old to learn. I am currently reading “The Alienist,” by Caleb Carr, which is historical fiction and an awesome blend of both worlds. And…I might watch some college and professional sports…sometimes…maybe.
What famous person would you like to meet and why?
Academy award winning actor, Jimmy Stewart. I have always admired his movie roles and his embodiment of the true gentleman. He generally epitomized the common man, not average, but one that possessed the highest character and strongest values. I would have liked to know the man behind the character. I am a collector of quotes, and this is one from his role in the movie, “Harvey,” that goes to my point… “Years ago my mother used to say to me that in this world you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant, for years I was smart, I recommend pleasant!”
If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?
Through business and personal travel, I have had the unique and humbling opportunity to experience the beauty of many cultures, histories, and landscapes of cities on each of the world’s continents. Despite these wonderful and amazing times, the place I still like to visit most is Door County, Wisconsin. Sometimes referred to as the “Nantucket of the Midwest,” there are so many ways to enjoy the most waterfront miles of any county in the U.S. Whether it’s catching and eating the tastiest lake perch and walleye pike, enjoying amazing sunrises on the eastern sandy beaches and sunsets on the western rocky shores, or golfing at the nearby world renowned Whistling Straits
or visiting Lambeau Field as a shareholder of the Green Bay Packers, the best part is…it’s home.
